Aight, so for this project I did my normal thing, like abstract and stud. Except this time I decided to venture out of my comfort zone (just a little bit, I didn't want to make myself too uncomfortable). I drew a lion. well, not a super duper realistic one. Well, it was kinda realistic. I guess. I don't know man, I drew a lion. With sharpie. And a red lion. I think I did a pretty good job at looking at a real picture of a lion and translating it into an abstract form.
Ok, at this point I just drew inspiration from myself. I don't need no man! I'm fine being single forever and I'm totally not lying right now. But seriously, I don't draw "inspiration" from other artists. Originally I was inspired by Reeps One but now I've really forged my own path.
So I started with the snout of the lion and worked on the face. I then did whatever I wanted. I gave up on the reference picture ad just drew and it was pretty liberating. Instead of shading the lion realistically, I used different patterns and textures.
If I started over again I would have done it on a different piece of paper because the paper I used was a piece of $#%@. I couldn't add as many details as I wanted to because the paper I used readily absorbed ink and made the lines not as crisp as I wanted them to be.
It's abstract. My exhibit's abstract. See the connection?
