Abstract - Dec. 2017
"I've already made my choice. Now you have to understand it." - The Oracle
The Matrix
Sharpie
Reflection
Alright. So I didn't know that I had to have a second project until Wednesday. Today's Friday so I managed to whip something up really quick. I took a different approach to this piece than I normally do when it comes to abstract art. I decided to use many thick lines and only add small detailed lines inside smaller triangles. I also made sure to emphasize the contrast between black and white by include a lot of negative space, interrupted by large strips of black. I used three different types of sharpies: the thin ones, the regular ones, and the super-duper thick ones. Why? Cause I wanted to. Duh.
I was inspired by colorful geometric abstract art that mainly uses triangles to create dimension. There was no specific artist that I was inspired by but I was intrigued by the simple nature of that type of art.
I started with the weird platform shape in the middle and worked down. I didn't really know what I was doing, but once I reached the bottom, I decided to color half of the page black because, why not? Everything else is history.
If I were to do something over, I would have made the black parts more uniform because parts of it are patchy.
It's abstract. This is the last time I'm saying this.
