Reflection
In this piece, I decided to start of the year by focusing primarily on artwork I will include in my IB exhibit. Since I am focusing on abstraction (once again) in my exhibit this year, I want to have all my pieces done prior to the week of the show. Then I don't have to rush through four pieces in four days to meet the deadline. As far as my technique goes, you already know. I've described it before so I feel it would be redundant to describe it again. Well... I guess I'll tell you the basics. I utilized shapes, lines, and direction to create a sense of repetition that culminates in a crazy yet cohesive piece of artwork.
There was no specific artist that inspired this piece by my artwork in general is heavily influenced by Reeps One, an abstract artist and professional beatboxer. But you already know this too. I mean, he is one of the artists on my Comparative Study and I've mentioned him on this website before.
I found it interesting the way people would look at my piece. Each person had a different perspective. The name comes from one person's interpretation - they saw a rooster with a crown. I didn't purposely draw a rooster, but now that they pointed it out, I can't unsee it.
The great thing about these abstract pieces is they require no thinking. Well, there is some part of my consciousness telling me what decisions to make, but I think you get the point. I put whatever, I want wherever I want. This might be a bad thing because I'm not necessarily focusing on my composition and how my sporadic decisions will affect the aesthetic value of my art but ehhh... I think it turned out pretty well. the evolution of this piece was very organic and natural, since I didn't second guess myself or attempt to start over. I simply started with an oval and branched out from there.
If I could do anything over again I would use different paper. By the time I finished drawing, the fragile and glossy paper I used had been crumpled and ripped.
This has an obvious connection to my other pieces. I think you can figure it out. Come on. Look at it.
